HUNDON HAWKS

Originally formed in 2004 as an under 12 team out from the remnants of Glemsford Gladiators under 11's, the Hundon Hawks have grown rapidly to the extent that season 2007/2008 will feature 6 teams at different age groups playing in the Cambridgeshire mini league and Cambs Colts Leagues.

In 2004/05 under the stewardship of Gary Moore, the new club took flight with the team winning division 2 of the Suffolk League. So much interest was generated by having a club in Hundon that a friendly/under 11 was instituted the same season.

The enthusiasm generated by the new venture, fully supported by the adult Hundon F C, saw the club grow in season 2005/06 to 4 teams at under 13, 12, 10 and 8, all playing in the Suffolk League. Fortunes were mixed but the under 13's playing in the top league survived a tricky relegation battle after having had no points at Xmas.

For season 2006/07 the club lost one age group but gained two others giving us five teams for the year but the most significant change was to move from the Suffolk League to play our football in Cambridgeshire. The new teams at under 8 and 12 did very well while the under 10's and 13's struggled a bit. The under 13's were relegated but from the middle tier of a five league age group. Success story were the under 14's who finished runners up in their league to gain promotion.

Season 2007/08 looks likely to be a bumper one for the club with teams at Under 8, 9 and 11 playing in the Cambs mini league and Under 13, 14 and 15 in the colts leagues. We hope to register over 80 children to play football for the Hawks this year which is a remarkable achievement for a village the size of Hundon.

Most importantly, the club prides itself on being inclusive. Yes it's nice to win, but everybody who signs up will get their chance to play. We also pride ourselves on the behaviour of both players, officials and spectators and our club policy is to offer sportsmanship and a warm welcome to all of our visitors including opposing teams and their officials and match officials.

If you want a chance to come and see the Hawks perform, the mini league sides play on a Saturday morning with home games on the village green or adjacent to the adult football pitch. The older age group teams play on Sunday's occasionally in Hundon but more often at Clare School or Clare Meadow.

We look forward to seeing you.
